Sky Ballet III. Riding the Thermals -GRADE 5
This is the third movement of a Concert Band Grade 5 piece called "Sky Ballet." Originally, it was written for woodwind quintet, but this movement, in particular, called for more sounds, more surprises, and mostly it was just begging for some percussion. Harmonically speaking, this movement contains a pentatonic scale that uses the first, third, fourth, fifth, and minor seventh scale degrees.
Where the Mountains Meet the Sky -GRADE 3
Commissioned by the Granite Ridge Intermediate School Band, this piece depticts a graduation and procession of musicians ready to take on the next level of music. As the pieces progresses,so does the maturity of the music. Musical elements such as chordal structure and tempo changes become slightly more advanced.
